Know Where To Go

Today we’ve launched ‘Know Where To Go‘, an online directory of organisations that provide support services for women dealing with the trauma of violence against women including domestic violence, rape, forced marriage, trafficking and prostitution.

The directory includes details of services provided by over 200 organisations across London and was put together in conjunction with Eaves (www.eaves4women.co.uk), a London-based charity that offers housing and support to vulnerable women, and is part of the Mayor’s ‘The Way Forward’ strategy for tackling violence against women.

Know Where To Go provides girls and women who are victims of violence with a gateway to potentially life changing support, and it’s an invaluable reference for practitioners who provide support to girls and women in London.

The database that supports the Know Where To Go directory has been released on the Datastore to make the information available to anyone who can use it, hopefully to make the information available to even more girls and women who may need support.

The database includes names of organisations, contact details, opening hours, issues covered, type of services offered and location. It is the first time such data has ever been gathered in one place and is available here as a flat CSV file.

We hope that organisations who are working with girls and women who are in need of support will take this data and make it more widely available through their own channels, whether that’s a mobile app or by creating more searchable directory listings on a wider range of websites.

The more girls and women in London who can access this information the better.
