Savings
Around half of all family units in London have no savings or savings totalling less than £1,500, which is roughly equivalent to an average monthly cost of rent in London. The proportion with this level of savings varies across the UK by region from 41 to 60 per cent. Rents, however, also vary considerably more, with average rent in London around double the average rent across the rest of the UK.
