Underutility

Another of the ways in which London’s workforce is not fulfilling its potential is the number of people working in jobs for which they are overqualified. In many parts of the workforce, this is extremely difficult to quantify. Estimates for graduates working in roles that do not require a degree-level qualification have fallen substantially in recent years to only a little over one in four in London, widening the gap with the rest of the UK. while the gap between recent graduates and non-recent graduates has closed in London overall, with recent graduates in Inner London less likely to be working in a non-graduate role than non-recent graduates. Graduates born in the UK were more likely to be working in roles requiring a degree than graduates from either the EEA or the rest of the world.
