London pubs audit

As part of the Cultural Infrastructure Plan, an annual audit of pubs is produced.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) ceased publication of the ‘Public houses and bars by local authority and MSOA in London’ data series after publication of the 2025 update (covering data to 2024). To ensure the continuity of GLA's pub audit, GLA Economics now uses the open-access UK Business Survey and Business Register and Employment Survey datasets to produce an annually updated pub audit dataset.

Latest findings:

London had 3,620 pub and bar businesses in 2025
London's pub and bar employment stood at 47,000 in 2024
Westminster and Camden remain by far London's largest pub locations
