AECOM, with Avison Young and Maccreanor Lavington undertook a comprehensive review and update of the London industrial land supply baseline for the GLA. It builds on the London Industrial Land Supply Study 2015 and also gives an overview of businesses/employment in industrial activities and the industrial property market.

The Executive Summary of the new study report is available within the Economy section of the London Plan Evidence | London City Hall website.

The Main Report and the Appendices are available below.

  • Appendix A includes details on the quantity of industrial land uses for different London geographies over time.
  • Appendix B assesses the economic function, character and role of Strategic Industrial Locations (SILs) in the capital.
  • Appendix C explores an approach to assess the theoretical intensification potential of ten example SILs.

This high-level desk-based research reflects the best information available to AECOM, and the land use figures have been subject to verification by the London boroughs. It represents a starting point for further local evidence work to inform planning and development.

Please note that Appendices A and B include minor clarifications compared to the versions published in January 2023. Please see the respective Content pages.
