We are committed to evaluating pan-London data science so that we collaborate more effectively and improve the way that we apply data science projects. Our first evaluation report was produced with the support of Nesta, the innovation foundation, who worked with us on the initial concept of a LODA, and designed and delivered the initial pilot exercise.

The focus of the initial pilot was to use machine learning to identify overcrowded accommodation (homes of multiple occupation) in the capital.

While evaluation reports in the future may focus on data science, this initial report focuses largely on practical lessons learned and suggests how to change culture, increase organisational capacity and improve the technology underpinnings of data science exercises so that future collaborative exercises can succeed.
