A-Level Results by Gender and Location of Educational Institution, Borough

AUGUST 2010  Education

Average: 5 (1 vote)

This dataset provides the total GCE/VCE/Applied A/AS Level and Equivalent Examination results (Level 3) for young people, including the average point score per student and the average point score per entry. An overall breakdown by gender is also included.

The dataset covers 16 to 18 year old students at the end of their second (and final) year of post-16 study. To determine whether a student belongs to this group, a set of criteria known as 'trigger criteria' has been established. These criteria state that students must be aged 16, 17 or 18 (at the start of the academic year), and they must have been entered for a GCE/VCE/Applied A level, a VCE/Applied Double Award in summer 2008 or a Level 3 qualification equivalent in size to at least one GCE/VCE/Applied A Level during 2007/2008 academic year.

Local Authority District averages are derived from the results of 16-18 year old students in Maintained Schools, Academies, City Technology Colleges (CTCs), Sixth Form Colleges and general Further Education Colleges. Please note, the only types of school maintained by an LA that are not included in this dataset are Pupil Referral Units and maintained hospital schools.
