Internal Migration within United Kingdom, Borough

JULY 2012  Demographics

Average: 5 (1 vote)

Internal migration within the United Kingdom: gross and net flows, by broad age group and sex.

These estimates are based on the movement of NHS doctors' patients between former Health Authority Areas in England and Wales and Area Health Boards in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Regional estimates of internal migration (that is migration between areas in the UK) are published each quarter. These quarterly estimates provide an update, though with less geographical detail, of the annual internal migration estimates by local authorities.

ONS will cease quarterly publication of the NHSCR-based rolling-year internal migration estimates, with the year-to-end-September 2011 estimates published in May 2012 being the final release. In future, it will publish year-to-end-June NHSCR-based estimates for each year, in a format suitable for re-use, alongside the LAD level internal migration estimates.
