Accident & Emergency Performance
DECEMBER 2010 Health
The percentage of people who have been seen within four hours in all types of accident and emergency (A&E) departments in London Hospitals.
The data includes the following by NHS hospital and for London as a whole:
• Performance against 4-hour wait for A&E attendances, 2008/09
• Performance against 4-hour wait for A&E attendances, 2009/10
• Performance against 4- hour wait for attendances, Quarter 1, 2010/11

*Types of A&E/minor injury unit (MIU) services are:
Type 1 A&E department = A consultant led 24 hour service with full resuscitation facilities and designated accommodation for the reception of accident and emergency patients.
Type 2 A&E department = A consultant led single specialty accident and emergency service (e.g. ophthalmology, dental) with designated accommodation for the reception of patients.
Type 3 A&E department = Other type of A&E/minor injury units (MIUs)/Walk-in Centres with designated accommodation for the reception of accident and emergency patients.
