Note: These profiles have been superceded by Ward Profiles 2011
June 2010
The Ward Profiles are presented using InstantAtlas mapping software. This is a useful tool for displaying a large amount of data for numerous geographies, in one place (requires Adobe Flash Player).
These profiles provide a summary of demographic and related data for each ward in Greater London. The profiles are designed to provide an overview of the population in these small areas by combining a range of data on the population, diversity, households, life expectancy, housing, crime, benefits, land use, deprivation, and employment.
The Instant Atlas interactive maps present much of the data, though the spreadsheets on the Datastore contain a comprehensive set of ward data. Where available, data has been collected for past years, meaning that trends can be analysed. The easiest way of seeing this is to use the line chart in the bottom left of the Instant Atlas window.
To view data just for one borough, use the filter tool. The Olympic area is also available as a filter. The scale on the charts will change to reflect the maximum value within the filtered area. The legend settings can be altered by clicking on the pencil icon next to the Wards tick box within the map legend. The wards can be ranked in order by clicking at the top of the indicator column of the data table in the bottom right.
All the ward data in these profiles are available on the Datastore, see the packages below.
The GLA Data Management and Analysis Group (DMAG) has produced these profiles, using the most up to date information available at the time of collection (May 2010).
