London Ward Well-Being Scores is a innovative Excel tool from the GLA that calculates an overall 'well-being' index score for each ward in London. It covers years 2005 to 2009.
The tool combines data from 12 different measures across a range of themes. Users are able to input the level of importance to each of the indicators, generating bespoke well-being scores. The London average each year is 0. Scores over 0 have higher well-being according to these measures.
The well-being scores are then presented in a bar chart for each borough*, and a map of London.
The spreadsheet highlights wards in the top and bottom 25 per cent in London. Wards that have shown significant improvement or reduction in well being over the five year period are also highlighted.
Rankings and summary tables are included. The data that the tool is based on is included in the same spreadsheet.
IMPORTANT NOTE, users must enable macros when prompted upon opening the spreadsheet (or reset security to medium/low) for the map to function. The rest of the tool will function without macros.
